Mains – Centerpieces Worth Celebrating
Finding a vegan main worthy of serving as the centerpiece of a Christmas dinner can be tricky. Thankfully, Morrisons has added several show-stopping vegan mains to their 2024 Christmas range:
Plant Revolution No Turkey Crown – This realistic meat-free turkey crown is made from pea and wheat protein. The herbed stuffing inside provides delicious flavor. I tried this last year and found it to be a very convincing turkey alternative in terms of texture and taste. At £6 for a generous portion, it’s fantastic value as well. This will anchor any vegan Christmas dinner beautifully!
Root To Fruit Festive Filo Swirls – For a lighter but still festive main, these filo pastry swirls are filled with butternut squash, parsnips, cranberries, chestnuts and sage. They’re easy to make in advance or on the day. I sampled one at the Morrisons tasting area and the flavors were wonderfully autumnal. Plus, you get two swirls per pack so there’s plenty to go around the table. At £3.50 they’re quite reasonable as well.
Desserts – Sweet Endings
While I adore the mains, I have to say I’m most excited about Morrisons’ vegan Christmas dessert range for 2024! Here are some of the highlights:
Free From Chocolate and Cherry Pudding – This rich and luscious vegan chocolate sponge is studded with cherries and served with a cherry sauce. It serves 4-6 so there should be enough to satisfy everyone’s chocolate cravings! At just £3 this is sure to become a new holiday favorite. The non-dairy cream or custard is optional, but I’d say it’s a must to take this dessert over the top.
Free From Golden Salted Caramel Yule Log – For that classic Christmas dessert, you can’t go wrong with this dairy-free yule log coated in vegan salted caramel and filled with sumptuous cashew nut cream. It’s a real showstopper that serves 4-6 people. Morrisons has this priced at an affordable £3 as well.
Free From Belgian Chocolate and Clementine Cheesecake – This no-bake vegan cheesecake is made with silken tofu and flavored with chocolate and clementines. It sounds seriously decadent! At £3.50 it’s a splurge, but probably worth it for a dinner party dessert. The clementines add a nice fresh note to balance the rich chocolate.
Overall Impressions
I’m thrilled to see Morrisons expanding their vegan Christmas offerings for 2024, especially with so many affordable options under £4 that still feel special. The centerpiece mains provide hearty plant-based protein in crowd-pleasing forms like a turkey crown or festive filo swirls. And the desserts read like a vegan’s dream come true!
As someone who has been celebrating vegan Christmas dinners for over 7 years now, I appreciate how hard Morrisons has worked to create plant-based holiday dishes that don’t feel like sad substitutes, but rather delicious food that just happens to be vegan. I’ll definitely be stopping by my local store to pick up a few of these items for my own Christmas dinner coming up soon.
I hope this sneak peek has helped provide some vegan Christmas dinner inspiration! Let me know in the comments if you try any of the Morrisons vegan range this year and what you think.
